Computed tomography (CT) is a technology that uses computer-processed x-rays to produce images (virtual ‘slices’) of specific areas allowing the user to see what is inside it without cutting it open. Many areas that are poorly imaged by either conventional radiographs or ultrasound are readily seen with the CT. The CT can be used in conjunction with surgery to provide a “road map” of where to go.
